This boat, who only measures 6.50 meters, becomes the house of a single sailor for more than 4000 nautical miles from western France to the Caribbean, via the Canary Islands. This classic race has been hold every two years since 1977, allowing so many new generations of amateur sailors to get a taste of true adventure and self-improvement but also to jump into professional offshore racing. Many have started their careers with this race, like the famous British sailor Ellen MacArthur for example. Known as the “Oceanic Himalaya”, this transatlantic is unique for its difficulty as well as for the renown cooperation that exists between competitors.

To be a part of the adventure, sailors have to train for two years in order to achieve a couple of requirements: first, they have to sail and add 1500 nautical miles combining multiple races with their boat. Second, they have to complete a 1000 nautical miles circuit, solo sailing and non stop, in order to demonstrate their mental and physical fitness. This journey is called the “Qualif”, this is the moment where sailors first experience spending 10 days sailing in complete solitude.

Above all, this race is an incredible opportunity for those who trust the ocean, the clouds and the winds to guide their boats the old way through the rough seas towards the warm Caribbean waters.
